MANGA WORLD 2
June 1993 : Graphics and Program - sunteam_paul : Music - sunteam_phil
Because I enjoyed doing the art for the first Manga World so much, I just kept on going and going. Over time the images I was copying got more and more complex and challenging, particularly the pictures here of Chun Li from Street Fighter II and Peachboy. All of this was backed nicely by a take on the Bomber Man theme music by sunteam_phil.

The PC Engine CD-Rom System screen again, with the end of level jingle from Crest of Wolf (otherwise known as Riot Zone).

Yes indeed, this screen is in 3D if you put on some red/blue glasses. A little bonus for those paying attention, I had the idea from the opening intro of the third Ranma 1/2 game on the PC Engine, which also used 3D in a couple of places. |
Nobody knew much about Sailor Moon in those days, but Newtype was full of it so it seemed a good reason to include this picture. |
There's always room for Yawara! The cute and fashionable judo girl. |
I was really big on Dragon Ball in the early 90s. Loved the art style and the action which seemed to flow off the page. I never saw the anime until much later, although I had an OAV. |
The Dirty Pair looking, well, dirty. Very pleased with this one, the hair was so fiddly. |
A wave of the hand from Princess Minky Momo. |
This is a cool bit of mecha from the anime Tekkaman Blade, which was later brought to the west with the poor sounding title Teknoman. |
Shampoo from Ranma 1/2 |
I never saw Assemble Insert or had any clue what it was about. But it used to appear in Newtype and there was something about the simplicity of the design that I just liked. |
Natsumi and Miyuki from You're Under Arrest. |
This is a picture of Lilia from the anime based on Ys II. I absolutely love the Ys games on the PC Engine so putting this in was a must. |
More Yawara! goodness. |
Lum from Urusei Yatsura, probably one of the best anime and manga of all time. Do yourself a favour and track it down. |
Tomboy Noa Izumi from the anime Patlabor.
Some more Dragon Ball. It's alright, but not the strongest image in the bunch. |
Taken from the cover of PC Engine Fan magazine, this Chun Li was not easy, due to all the small fiddly bits. The stars on the floor could have been more prominent really. |
A cool image of Goku taken from a Dragon Ball wall hanging that I still have. |
Another Chun Li from PC Engine Fan magazine. The faces in the background worked out quite well. |
Peachboy. At this point, this was the most ambitious image I had attempted. My tracing method was good for most pictures, but this was so complex, with such tightly fitting details that it took a long time to get it all right. But I think the end result was very much worth it.
